Over the past 50 years, technology has improved enormously. From our computer software, touch screen phones and HD televisions, the vehicle safety protocols have improved quite dramatically as well. The best part is that you can feel safe in your car, because Hare Chevrolet has top safety vehicles in reach for everyone.
More than six times as many drivers are on the road now compared to 1925. Surprisingly, the annual motor-vehicle death rate has decreased from 18 accidents per 100 million vehicles traveled to nearly 1.7 per 100 million.
In the 20th century, more than 3 million people were killed in auto accidents. In 1966, the U.S. enacted the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act to ensure the lives of the millions of people driving nationwide. It states that the federal government is allowed to set and administer new safety standards for motor vehicles and road safety.
Automakers now build their vehicles with certain safety requirements to ensure the the safest family car for their customers. Air bags and seat belts have been intact for a few decades now, with the local police enforcing the safety laws. Another handy safety feature that most new Hare Chevrolet vehicles carry is OnStar; immediate help if a driver gets into a car accident. Also, mandatory speed limits are placed in all areas; either in a school zone, neighborhood or interstate.
Now, being 50 years since safety requirements were enforced, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) placed a 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air against a 2009 Chevy Malibu. As expected, vehicles now-a-days are MUCH better than vehicles built some-50 years ago. Hare Chevrolet, especially, takes this news in great appreciation. Hare is honored to know that our customers are receiving exceptional vehicles today and look forward to the future.

I’ll be the first to admit it. A few years ago, I wasn’t exactly lining up at car dealerships to purchase a Chevrolet. I’d grown up with the idea that Chevy’s were average, everyday cars and I’d never waste my money on one. For those of you who still think that Chevrolet is not a valuable contender among the elite, think again.
USA Today, “Motorweek”, and the editors of Cars.com have just named the 2011 Chevy Equinox the Best Family Crossover Vehicle. The three companies sponsored a “family-focused vehicle showdown,” or “$29,000 SUV shootout” as they call it. It’s no secret the auto industry is on the rise, booming really, and the new family vehicle of choice is the compact crossover SUV. Parents love this style because it’s roomy like a van or truck without the oversized feel, they are easy to drive and don’t eat the wallets during gas fill-ups. They’re innovative and their peak performance will continue to outshine the rest.
So a team of experts and the Lawrence family tested nine crossover vehicles including the Chevrolet Equinox, Dodge Journey, Kia Sportage, Subaru Forester, Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson, Ford Escape, Toyota RAV4, and the Nissan Rogue. They wanted to know which crossover offered the best value including convenience, performance, and available features all with a price of no more than $29,000.
“The vehicle itself is what Americans are looking for because they can carry people, carry stuff, have good visibility and versatility,” says Charlie Vogelheim, executive editor for IntelliChoice.com.
Compact crossover sales rose 74% across the industry last year, according to General Motors and reports show that last year alone the line rose in sales share from 14 percent to 21 percent. No wonder. The price offers families various features that used to only be found on larger vehicles like backup cameras and backseat DVD players for children.
Once the experts pined through every detail of the lineup, actor Joey Lawrence and his family scrutinized all nine of the crossovers. Lawrence is currently starring in Melissa and Joey on ABC Family with Melissa Joan Hart, but has also played various roles in CSI and Dancing With the Stars. Joey and his wife, Chandi, who parent 4-year-old Charli and infant, Libby, were given the opportunity to give their input that counted for 25% of the final score. After spending many hours test-driving and evaluating each one, the Lawrence made sure to decide which vehicle was the best overall value.
After spending countless hours critiquing each one, the Lawrence family was thoroughly impressed with the Chevrolet Equinox. Joey and Chandi enjoyed the details and quality feel of the Equinox saying it was the best choice for a young family for its features, engine, and looks.
“I like it a lot. It feels like an expensive car. It’s yummy,” Chandi said. Joey had similar feelings.
“It feels so much more substantial,” he said while driving it. “The Chevy looks great, rides fine and, most important, and controls the road. There’s not one creak in this car.”
Other comments from the experts:
“The Equinox is the clear winner in my book. It seemingly belongs to a completely different category . . . luxury. The fit and finish go way above and beyond the others.”
-Varela
“For $28,500, this car is loaded with family-friendly features.” –Newman
“There’s a real premium feel throughout the interior.” -Robinson
“The Equinox is one of the most comfortable of the bunch from the driver’s seat.”
-Thomas
Don’t take it from me. Let the results speak for themselves. It’s a pretty big deal.
