A good place to start a spring checkup is one of the most neglected parts of the car, the battery. Modern batteries are sealed, so you don’t have to worry about topping off the electrolyte like the old days, but they do eventually wear out and lose their ability to hold a charge. Our Service Department can inspect your vehicle to ensure safety and getting the most out of your battery.

Service intervals for oil changes have lengthened over the years. You’ll find the recommended intervals in your owner’s manual. Drivers who frequently drive on dirt roads or who do a lot of stop-and-go may also need to change the oil more frequently. Our Quick Lube Department can change your oil quickly so you can get back to your life.

Of course, the oil filter should be replaced with the oil. If the oil filter gets clogged, pressure can build up, causing a bypass valve to open. If this happens, unfiltered oil can circulate through the engine and potentially cause very expensive damage.

Additional vehicle fluids to be checked include engine coolant and brake and power steering fluids. Many newer vehicles have electric power steering and don’t require any maintenance, but cars and trucks with hydraulic systems may need to be topped off to ensure proper performance.

The coolant needs to be kept full or the engine could overheat and suffer major damage. While checking the level, the technician will take a look at the color and make sure it remains bright and clean looking. Any change in coolant color will prompt further investigation to ensure there are no leaks or blockages in the system.

The snow, slush and salt of winter also tear up the rubber of the windshield wiper blades. By the time spring rains start to fall, the wipers often just leave streaks on the windshield, hampering visibility.

The road salt used to melt all that snow and ice can accumulate on the underside of a car or truck and trigger corrosion that reduces the life of your ride. While it’s a good idea to get regular car washes throughout the winter, in the spring, your vehicle should get a thorough washing including the undercarriage, especially in all the nooks and crannies where clumps of salt can collect.

At every change of season, you should check your tires for both general and uneven wear. Since the front and rear tires do differing amounts of work, they should be rotated according to the recommendations in the owner’s manual to help maximize their life. If the tires are wearing excessively and/or unevenly, they should be checked for the correct inflation and wheels should be checked for proper alignment. Misalignment can also cause significant handling problems.

While the wheels are off the car for rotation, it’s a good time to check out the brakes. Brake pads and rotors wear down over time, but when they get too thin, you can lose stopping power. If the brake pads are too skinny or the rotors are grooved, they should be replaced.

You invest a lot of money in your vehicles and you want them to last. To get the most out of your cars and trucks, basic regular maintenance at each change of season can keep them running reliably for years to come.

Hare Chevrolet will present the Noblesville Youth Baseball with 10 new equipment kits complete with equipment bags, baseball buckets, whiffle balls, hitting net, batting tees and Chevrolet Youth Baseball T-shirts. The sponsorship also includes youth clinics featuring former MLB/MiLB players and coaches and instructors from Ripken Baseball.

In addition, Hare will present a check representing a one-time monetary donation to Noblesville Youth Baseball.  The team also will have an opportunity to raise additional funds through a Chevrolet Youth Baseball Fund-raiser.  Sponsored leagues across the country will each receive 2,000 fund-raiser entry tickets to distribute for a suggested donation, and each league will keep 100 percent of the proceeds it raises.  At the end of the fund-raiser, five winners – one from each region – will win the Chevrolet Equinox or Chevrolet Cruze vehicle of their choice. Each participating market will award a secondary prize of a television and Blu-Ray player.

In addition to its commitment to youth baseball, Chevrolet is also the Official Vehicle of Major League Baseball.

Here are 10 game ideas to keep from hearing “Are we there yet?” You can thank us later. In the meantime, enjoy, and have a wonderful vacation with the family!

1.  The Alphabet Game. Pick a topic – animals, for instance – Start with A, and let each person in turn name an animal that begins with a letter of the alphabet. To make things more challenging, ask each person to recite all the animals that have been named so far, as they go along. When you reach Z, begin again with a different topic.

2. The License Plate Game. See how many different state license plates you can spot on your trip. Keep a list of your sightings or before your trip, print out a map of the U.S., and check off each state when you see a vehicle with that plate. Even better, make a list of every Chevrolet and see how many you find!

3. Picture it. Give each child an inexpensive disposable camera, and allow them to take photos of anything of interest they see along the way. After the trip, have the photos developed and let each child create their own homemade storybook about their travels.

4. Aluminum foil art. Take along a roll of aluminum foil and let your kids use it to craft their own creations. They might try making jewelry, animal sculptures, hats, cars… the possibilities are as endless as their imaginations!

5. Travel bingo and other games. Pick up a set of travel bingo boards at the local dollar store… the ones with the little red windows that slide across each square as the letters and numbers are called. Or look for other travel games with magnetic pieces that won’t get lost.

6. Counting games. Assign each member of the family something specific to count along your route. Think cows, fire trucks, trains, police cars, horses, American flags, etc. Tally up each person’s score at every rest stop to see who has the most points.

7. The Drawing Game. Pass around a piece of paper, and let everyone add one line until it forms a picture. When the picture is complete, let the kids color it in.

8. 20 Questions. In this classic game, Player 1 thinks of an object, person, or place. Then the other players, in turn, ask one question at a time to try and guess what it is. But the limit is 20 questions. If they haven’t guessed by then, Player 1 wins!

9. Travel totes. This one takes a little advance planning, but it’s worth it! Pick up an inexpensive tote bag for each child and fill it with books, crayons, coloring books, a note pad, their favorite portable snacks and treats, and a favorite toy. Each child having their own bag will eliminate back seat battles over whose turn it is to use the crayons next.

10. Roadside attractions and tacky tourist traps. Factor in a little fun along the road by stopping at one offbeat spot: a quirky souvenir stand; a local advertising oddity like a gigantic chicken statue, an unusual roadside museum, or maybe even a diner in the shape of a hot dog. Even a quick pit stop in a fun spot can refresh and revive everyone, and inspire lively conversation for the rest of the trip.

The Malibu Eco is the first model of the new eighth-generation Malibu lineup. Designed to stand out, the 2013 Malibu features a wider stance (two inches wider) than the model it replaces. The powerdome hood and integrated rear spoiler add a more aggressive feel. Further enhancing the sporty feel of the exterior, the Malibu has been given a coupe-like silhouette and interesting details like the Camaro-inspired taillamps. With Chevrolet’s dual-port grille, large, swept-back headlamps and standard 17-inch alloy wheels, the Malibu brings an athletic sensibility to the midsize market. A segment first, the exterior of the Malibu Eco is equipped with an active shutter system that automatically closes at speed to reduce aerodynamic drag.

The new Malibu Eco is the first Chevrolet vehicle equipped with the fuel-saving eAssist technology. The eAssist system is teamed with an efficient and lightweight Ecotec 2.4-liter direct-injected four-cylinder engine that produces 184 hp. The Malibu also uses a next-generation six-speed automatic transmission. The eAssist system uses power stored in an air-cooled lithium-ion battery to provide an electrical boost when needed, optimizing engine and transmission performance. The system uses regenerative braking to provide the battery with 15kW of electricity. The 115V battery and 15kW motor-generator unit can provide a boost of up to 15 hp during heavy acceleration. The eAssist system also allows the use of electricity when stopped, instead of gasoline, by way of a smooth and automatic engine start-stop system. GM estimates that this system will allow the Malibu Eco to achieve 37 mpg highway – BETTER THAN ANY non-hybrid midsize sedan.

The all-new interior of the 2013 Malibu has been equally enhanced. The cabin is roomier, quieter and more comfortable than its predecessor. Thanks in part to the wider wheelbase, Chevrolet was able to equip the Malibu with a dual cockpit design that is three inches wider than the previous generation car. The new Malibu features metallic, chrome or wood interior accents located around the shifter, on the door panels and steering wheel, and around the center stack and instrument cluster. The Malibu is also equipped with an ice blue ambient lighting system that bathes the cabin in a soft glow. The ambient lighting complements the ice blue illumination on the center stack dials and along the instrument panel. Contrasting French stitching, strategic applications of noise-deadening materials and soft-touch surfaces help to enhance the Malibu’s refinement.

To make sure the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Eco handles as well as it looks, it has been engineered to deliver ride and handling that are beyond best in class, aiming for parity with more expensive sports sedans. A solid body structure that’s 20 percent stiffer than previous models allows for precise tuning and dynamic vehicle control. The suspension is composed of a MacPherson strut front end with a multi-link setup in the rear with aluminum components and a hollow stabilizer bar to reduce weight. The new Malibu also features large, 11.7-inch ventilated disc brakes in front, and 11.5-inch solid rear brakes, which are expected to deliver class-leading stopping distances.

An isolated engine cradle working in tandem with the stiff body structure helps keep noise and vibration from entering the car’s cabin. This, along with features like acoustic-laminated glass, makes the new Malibu the QUIETEST car Chevrolet has ever made. To further isolate occupants from the harshness outside the windows, 16 expanding-foam acoustic baffles are placed in strategic locations throughout the car. When the car body is being passed through the ovens in the paint shop, the heated foam expands to fill the body panels, providing acoustic insulation for the cabin.

The all-new 2013 Malibu Eco was not only designed to be the most refined and best performing midsize sedan on the market, it was designed to be one of the safest as well. With active safety features like four-wheel ABS and StabiliTrak electronic stability control with Traction Control system, the Malibu will help prevent many accidents before they happen. The Malibu’s stiff body structure and eight standard airbags protect occupants during an accident while the OnStar system with Automatic Crash Response will alert emergency personnel immediately following a collision. In addition to OnStar, the Malibu Eco comes standard with the MyLink Infotainment Package, which integrates online services like Pandora Internet Radio and Stitcher SmartRadio, plus Bluetooth enabled devices.

First and foremost, when you hit that 35,000-mile mark, its probably time for an oil and filter change. Oil change recommendations vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, and some vehicles have systems that monitor your driving style and conditions, as well as the condition of the oil, and then send a message when its time for an oil change. Our world-class service technicians can change your oil quickly so that you can get back on the road without the hassle of waiting.

When a vehicle is used in a lot of stop and go driving, a dusty environment or in heavy load conditions like towing a trailer, the system may suggest more frequent oil changes to protect the engine. On the other hand, drivers that do a lot of highway commuting at constant speeds may be able to go longer between changes. Drivers can check the maintenance section of their owners manual or call our Service Department and speak with an advisor.

Another part of any car or truck that benefits from regular maintenance is the tires. Like the oil in the engine, tire life will depend a lot on how the vehicle is used, but it also varies depending on the type of tire. High-performance, speed-rated tires often found on sportier cars tend to wear out faster because the soft rubber treads that enhance traction also get shaved off during hard cornering. Our Service Department has various brands of tires available including BF Goodrich, Continental, Dunlop, Firestone, General Goodyear, Hankook, Michelin, Pirelli, Uniroyal, Kumho and many more!

Whether your ride is rolling on summer performance tires, all-season radials or off-road specials, the tire pressures should be checked at least once a month and the treads should be examined while you’re down there at the corners. Tires showing less than the manufacturer-recommended tread depth should be replaced. Always have your tires rotated according to manufacturer recommendations so that they wear evenly and last as long as possible. Call us today to set up an appointment.

While the wheels are off for rotation, it’s a good idea to take a look at the brakes. The brake pads, particularly those on the front corners, will probably be substantially thinner by 35,000 miles. Many brake pads will have a visible metal wear indicator clip that will scrape against the rotor and squeal when pads are too thin. If the clip is touching or very close to the surface of the rotor, it’s about time to change them. At the same time, check the surface of the brake rotors where the pads grip. They should look clean and free of deep grooves or discoloration that indicates overheating. If the rotors have grooves or other signs of uneven wear, strange colors or dark areas, the rotors should be either machined or replaced.

Brake line connections, drive-shaft seals and various hoses should be checked for signs of leaks and then corrected. Suspension and steering links should be examined to make sure everything remains tight. If the air filter hasn’t already been replaced by 35,000 miles, its almost certainly time to put in a clean one so that the engine can breathe properly. Also under the hood, fluid levels for the brakes, power steering, coolant and washer fluid should all be checked and topped off as needed, and accessory drive belts should be inspected for cracks or other signs of wear. In some cases, transmission or differential fluids may also need to be replaced at 35,000 miles.

Drivers should also turn on headlights, turn signals and warning flashers to check for burned out bulbs and replace them as needed. Since different vehicles have varying levels of equipment, drivers should always check their owners manuals to determine what other items might need service such as pollen filters in the ventilation system or filters for vented seats.

These things take less time than you think, and we are always there to help. Considering the tens of thousands of dollars you probably paid for your new car or truck, it’s definitely worth spending a small amount of time to keep it running like new for many years to come. No run of the mill Vette, the special package celebrates the 100th anniversary of Chevy’s founding on November 3rd, 2011, and is only being offered on 2012 model year cars.

Available on any of the Corvette models, the option includes Carbon Flash Metallic paint, Satin Black wheels with red accents, a suede-trimmed black interior, special 100th Anniversary badges and an advanced active suspension system.

The C6 Chevrolet Corvette enters its final year in 2013 and as a last hurrah Chevy is launching the new Corvette 427 Convertible Collector Edition, the fastest and most capable Corvette convertible ever launched.

Peak output remains at 505 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, and just like in the Z06, where the Corvette 427 Convertible gets its engine, a six-speed manual is the only transmission option. In addition to the engine, the Corvette 427 Convertible also picks up the Corvette Z06’s driveline and rear axle system and latest-generation Magnetic Selective Ride Control. The standard 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels are wrapped in ZR1-style Michelin PS2 tires and are the machine-face Cup type introduced last year. The combination of low mass and high output should make the Corvette 427 Convertible one of the fastest drop-tops in the world, with estimates coming in at 0-60 in 3.8 seconds, quarter-mile performance of 11.8 seconds and a top speed of more than 190 mph.

2013 also marks 60 years since the launch of the first Corvette back in 1953 and in honor of the milestone Chevrolet is offering a special 60th Anniversary Package that will be available on all 2013 Corvettes.

With its 100th birthday behind it, Chevrolet is on pace to set an all-time global sales record in 2011, having sold 4.8 million units through the end of November, a company official said.

Chevrolet’s market share around the world has increased by nearly one half of a point this year, as it also steadily advances a goal of becoming a global brand, according to Russ Clark, Chevrolet’s marketing manager for mid-sized and performance cars.

Sixty percent of all Chevrolets are now sold outside the United States, which has long been the primary market for General Motors (GM) for most of the past century, Clark said. Chevy began selling cars in South Korea and Vietnam for the first time this past year.

Believe it or not, one in five Chevrolets are sold in Latin America, where it is the number one brand with a market share of 18.7 percent, while Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Columbia are all now important markets for Chevrolet products from passenger cars to trucks and sport utility vehicles.

Despite General Motors’ push to make Chevrolet a truly global brand with the same worldwide reach as Ford, Toyota and Volkswagen, Chevy has not halted its effort in the United States: Chevrolet is the second placed US brand with 13.7 percent market share, just behind arch-rival Ford.

But it has gained one-full point of market share thanks to it having posted 15 consecutive months of sales gain, as it appears to be on the verge of a 16th monthly sales gain in December, Clark said.

Sales of Chevrolet passenger cars have meanwhile climbed 34 percent in recent months thanks to the overhaul of its passenger cars.

The Chevrolet Cruze was the best-selling compact car in the US, while sales of the Chevy Malibu have surpassed those of 2010.

Both the Corvette and Camaro, which has bested Mustang for the second year in a row, are now tops in their respective segments, Clark noted, while the all-new subcompact Chevrolet Sonic is selling so fast dealers have only a 17-day supply on their lots.

According to the NHTSA, the 2012 Chevy Sonic’s overall rating is based on frontal and side crash tests, along with the rollover resistance testing. This applies for both the Sonic sedan and the five-door hatchback.

“We developed Sonic to exceed customer expectations of subcompacts in terms of segment-leading safety features. From the largest vehicles in our lineup to the smallest, we are putting overall crashworthiness and state-of-the-art safety technologies at the top of the list of must-haves,” said the GM executive director of vehicle safety, Gay Kent.

Born in New Castle, Ind. in 1962, Gainey grew up with three siblings. His family moved around often, but in 1981, Gainey graduated from Greenfield Central High School. He had worked as a lot attendant his first two years at Eastgate Chrysler and would hitchhike 18 miles after school each day to wash cars for about $2.00 an hour, then hitchhike 18 miles back home.

In 1981, he was promoted to service advisor and during that time began making the TV commercials for the dealership and continued his starring role until 2009. Two years later, Gainey moved to sales. After one year, he had sold over 30 units at age 23, an accomplishment no one had done before. During that time, Gainey created a custom stripe package on the Plymouth two-door Turismo, a design similar to the TransAm package on the Firebird.

“I had been striping cars for awhile and wanted to come up with something original,” Gainey said. “I was not expecting the design to become so popular that it would make us the #1 seller for the Turismo in the country.”

He called it the Spider/Miser package. The dealership began charging $395 per car for the custom striping. Customers would come in from other states and purchase the Turismo if they could have the design included at no extra charge.

Sales had increased so rapidly that even the Chrysler national representatives noticed.

Young Gainey’s story was featured in the national Chrysler newsletter in spring 1985. After that, Gainey was promoted to used car manager and in 1989, he transferred back to sales. During that time, Gainey found himself earning six figures, another goal that no one had done before him.

“I worked my butt off. I sold 56 cars in February 1994. The owner at the time moved me back to used car manager and in 1999, I became Co-GM of Eastgate and Westgate Chrysler,” he said. “Then, in 2006, I was moved back to used car manager. Four more years of that and I decided I needed to go somewhere else.”

Gainey did just that. In January 2010, he started working in sales at Hare Chevrolet. His two younger brothers, Wayne and Dan, also work at here at Hare Chevrolet.

When he’s not at work, Gainey spends his free time riding his motorcycles, boating, and watching football. Most of his time, however, is spent selling cars.

“It’s my passion,” he said. “My friend who jumped on the back of the garbage truck, ironically enough, still picks up my trash to this day. As for me, I’m still selling cars. I guess it worked out for both of us.”

As Gainey reflects on his journey through the auto industry, he says Hare Chevrolet is unlike any other dealership. Not only is the history special, but the people are too.

“Since this generation went on sale in mid-2009 we have sold every Equinox we can build, but we aren’t counting on that momentum to carry us,” said Russ Clark, director, Chevrolet marketing. “We have carefully selected technologies that our customers will find valuable and are able to offer them at very attractive prices.”

Those technologies include Chevrolet MyLink, the brand’s highly regarded in-car infotainment and connectivity system. The camera is able to detect the shapes of other vehicles and lane markings and alert the driver—with both visual and audible warnings—if the Equinox is following too closely to another vehicle ahead of it or leaves its lane without the driver signaling, or if a collision is imminent. And if a potential collision scenario arises, the system ensures the Equinox’s brakes are pre-charged for optimal braking performance.

The first step in making sure your vehicle is ready for winter is an examination of the tire treads. If your wheels are properly aligned and balanced, the tire treads should be wearing relatively evenly from inside to outside and all the way around. If either edge is more heavily worn than the opposite side, it’s a signal that the wheels aren’t properly aligned.

Depending on the nature of the alignment problem, this may be felt by the vehicle pulling to one side or the other while driving straight down the road. However, certain problems can cause uneven wear without pulling. If your tires are wearing unevenly, our Service department can perform a full four-wheel alignment and an inspection of your suspension components.

Other signs of tire trouble include bulges in the sidewalls, cup-like wear patterns and vibrations that can be felt while driving. These can be indicators of internal problems in the tire like a slipped belt, or an unbalanced wheel and tire. Tire balancing is another quick and inexpensive service procedure while tires with internal problems should be replaced immediately. Let our service advisors know of anything you see that looks out of the ordinary.

Improper tire inflation is a common cause of uneven wear. Overinflated tires will show more wear in the center of the tread area while underinflated tires may be getting raw on both the inner and outer shoulders. Keeping tires properly inflated will give you better fuel economy on the road, improve handling and help tires last longer.

Excessive tread wear, whether uniform or not, can trigger problems when roads get wet or slick. When tread grooves are too shallow, the tires can’t move the water on the road out of the way, leading to a loss of traction.

Most modern vehicles come equipped from the factory with all-season tires that will meet many drivers’ year-round commuting needs. However, in areas where temperatures fall below around 40 degrees (Indiana!), whether or not it ever snows, these jack-of-all-trades tires may not be up to the task. All-season tire rubber is harder and less flexible when cold than the rubber used in winter tires: Winter rubber is designed to maintain its flexibility when cold, allowing for better channeling of water in colder temperatures and better bite into snow and ice. Where there is snowfall, the specialized tread patterns of winter tires also provide better traction and grip than summer or all-season tires can. Modern winter tires are available in virtually every size to fit anything from full-size SUVs like a 2012 Chevy Suburban to high-performance sports cars such as the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro.

Unlike old-fashioned snow tires that had large, tractor-like treads to bite into the snow, modern, computer-designed versions typically look more like their all-season counterparts. A closer look shows that these cold-weather units have numerous tiny grooves in the tread that help the tires get a better grip, especially on icy roads. These grooves also help the tire throw off snow as the tire rolls and deforms to prevent treads from getting filled up with snow.

For convenience, many drivers who opt for dedicated winter tires have them mounted on a second set of wheels, so they can be quickly swapped out without having to remove and mount the tires twice a year. Always use winter tires as a full set, rather than mixing them with non-winter tires. Snow tires have significantly different handling characteristics from all-season or summer tires, so mixing tires can lead to serious safety issues.

But here it is in black and white (and yellow): The 2012 Chevy Camaro coupe is the FIRST vehicle to earn a perfect score in National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s safety testing since the federal testing procedures were revised in 2011, according to Examiner.com. While other vehicles have earned an overall NHTSA 5-Star safety rating, the Camaro was the first to score a PERFECT 5-star rating in ALL six test categories. Those include frontal barrier crash test ratings for the driver and passenger, side crash ratings for the driver and passenger, a rollover rating and the vehicle’s overall rating.

While the report indicates that NHTSA has not yet tested its entire slate of 2012 model year vehicles, of the 46 that have completed the process, only 14 have received a 5-Star Safety Rating. Even if the Chevy Camaro’s safety score is an outlier among the other accolades it has received over the years – you know, the NHRA, Trans-Am and SCCA hardware and such – kudos to Chevy.

The initial delivery of Volts was courtesy of a collaboration between GM, the Electric Power Research Institute and the utility companies, and was made possible by a $30.5 million grant administered by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Recovery Act Transportation Electrification Initiative.

“In-home and workplace charging experience is critical to market acceptance of electric vehicles,” said Britta Gross, GM director of Global Energy Systems and Infrastructure Commercialization. “Together with EPRI and leading utility companies such as Duke Energy and Progress Energy, we will transform transportation and make electric vehicles relevant and available to the mass market.”

And driving the Volt is certainly a transformative experience. It’s EPA certified to deliver 35 miles of all-electric transportation at the equivalent of 95 mpg city/90 mpg highway/93 mpg combined. Further, GM is reporting that, in real-world conditions, “about two-thirds of the more than 4 million miles driven by Volt owners to date have been powered by domestically produced electricity, and the typical Volt customer is getting almost 1,000 miles per single tank of gasoline.”

The Traverse accommodates more filling while requiring less filling-up. A front-wheel drive 2012 Chevrolet Traverse delivers an EPA-estimated 24 mpg highway, better than any other eight-passenger crossover in its class. Split-folding second- and third-row seats offer flexibility, and an available rear-seat DVD entertainment system helps the miles roll away effortlessly for passengers. The Traverse offers up to 116.4 cubic feet of maximum cargo space; even with all seats in use, you still have 24.4 cubic feet of storage space behind the rear-most seats.

The year 2012 brings new Dark Silver Metallic and Crystal Red Tintcoat paint colors to the popular Traverse, which is available in LS, 1LT, 2LT and LTZ trim levels. The IIHS tests vehicles to determine how well they protect occupants in front and side crash tests, in rollovers via a roof strength test, and in simulated rear impacts to evaluate seat and head restraints for protection against neck injuries. In all of these areas, the Sonic achieved “good” scores.

Safety was a priority for engineers, and the “Top Safety Pick” award didn’t come as much of a surprise. In addition to 10 air bags, the Sonic offers a body structure incorporating a single welded side ring unit. Also, more than 60 percent of the vehicle safety cage consists of high-strength steel.

Chevrolet has announced that its upcoming 2012 Camaro ZL1 will come packing 580 hp under the hood when it goes on sale early next year, which would make it the most powerful muscle car in America and a good deal more potent than the current top of the line Camaro SS with its 426 hp V8.

When it was first unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show this past February, the folks from Chevy said that the ZL1 would have at least 550 hp, but clearly were keeping the truth close to the vest. The horses come from a modified version of the 6.2-liter V8 in the 556 hp Cadillac CTS-V that features a new induction system, low-resistance air filter and a revised supercharger with improved airflow.

An engine oil cooler from the Corvette ZR1, rear-differential cooler and high-performance fuel system all aim to enhance its on-track performance. Six-speed automatic and manual transmission will be offered, both matched to GM’s latest Magnetic Ride Control active suspension system, which can adjust stiffness up to 1,000 per second using dampers filled with a fluid that reacts to electric inputs.

As Cadillac’s recent commercials point out, it’s the same sort of thing found on a Ferrari 458 Italia. Launch control and the same advanced traction and stability control system found on the ZR1 complete the performance end of the package, while a redesigned body sporting a carbon fiber hood gives the ZL1 a unique look.

Pricing for the Camaro has not been set, but it’s likely to fall in the $50-60,000 range. All told, between tech and the power, the ZL1 beats the current top of the muscle car heap, the 550hp Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, in just about every category.
